GENERAL INFORMATION
All applicants for Clinical Practice must:
- Be accepted and currently admitted into the Credential Program. Applicants who lose enrollment will need to re-apply to CPP and the credential program, prior to the start of Clinical Practice.
- Complete all prerequisites and core coursework prior to Clinical Practice
- Submit this form and all checklist items by the deadline for the semester in which you plan to begin Clinical Practice
- Meet the appropriate overall GPA of 3.0 at the time of this form submission
Courses with a grade of "C-" or lower will need to be retaken prior to being admitted to Clinical Practice.
After a review and evaluation of requirements is made, you will receive e-mail notification from the Credential Analyst regarding the status of your Clinical Practice application. All approved applications will be forwarded to the Office of Clinical Practice for placement.
An earned “CR” (credit) is required in Clinical Practice, as well as maintenance of a 3.0 GPA in all credential coursework attempted to earn a University recommendation for the credential.
Please be prepared to submit the items below. If these items have not been attained, progression into Clinical Practice will be denied:
- 100% SUBJECT MATTER VERIFICATION (CSET or the outcome of your AB 130 alternate review). For CSET, each subtest score needs to remain valid through the end of Clinical Practice. Subtests with expired scores need to be retaken and passed before proceeding with Clinical Practice.
- Basic Skills Requirement verification (CBEST or the outcome of your AB 130 alternate review).
- CURRENT NEGATIVE TUBERCULOSIS (TB) TEST TB clearance is valid for four years and must remain valid throughout Clinical Practice. A copy of TB clearance was required at Program Admissions. If your test has expired since that time, a new test is required.
- CERTIFICATE OF CLEARANCE A copy of a Certificate of Clearance document granted by the CTC must be submitted as part of the Program Admissions process. A California Teaching Credential, Emergency Permit, or Short Term Staff Permit may be submitted in lieu of the Certificate of Clearance. The issuance date must not exceed 5 years.
PLACEMENT INFORMATION
Placements are requested based on:
- California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) requirements
- Availability of appropriate quality placements
- Geographic locations within reasonable commuting range from the address you list below
The Office of Clinical Practice arranges all student teacher placements. The process is time consuming, requiring several weeks to complete. You will be notified when your placement has been confirmed. Most communications from the office will be sent in the form of e-mail per university policy. Any correspondence that is mailed will be sent to the current address on Bronco Direct.
