AB 130 Subject Matter Requirement requests are processed in the order that they are received and may take 2 - 3 weeks to review once all required documentation for the review is received.
Submission of this form does not guarantee that you meet the subject matter requirement. After a review is completed, you will be notified of the outcome of the review (approved or denied) via email.
If it is determined that you do not meet the subject matter requirement, you may need to take the CSET to meet the subject matter requirement for the credential being pursued.

Subject Matter Requirement

According to AB 130, new options now exist for meeting the Subject Matter Competency requirement. The following majors can now be used to meet subject matter requirements:

Education Specialist
The major must align with one of the acceptable majors for the Multiple or Single Subject credentials (see below).

Multiple Subject
Liberal Studies
Liberal Arts
Elementary Education
See subdivision (b) of California Ed Code 44282

Single Subject
The major must be in one of the subjects named in California Ed. Code section 44257(a)

Subject matter evaluations made by Cal Poly Pomona may be used for:
a) applications to the credential programs offered at Cal Poly Pomona
b) applications to credential programs offered at other universities, but only for CPP Alumni who graduated from a CPP undergraduate subject matter preparation program.
