Established at Cal Poly Pomona in 2013, RISE is a free, immersive, pre-enrollment summer program for high school students and incoming Cal Poly Pomona first-year students. While RISE is open to students from all backgrounds in alignment with CSU policies and CPP programming, its focus is on promoting Black student success through leadership development, academic preparedness, cultural competence, and community building.

Through interactive workshops, hands-on experiences, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with current students, faculty, staff, and campus resources, RISE gives students an opportunity to explore college life and begin imagining themselves as future Broncos.

Participants build meaningful relationships with their peers, develop confidence and leadership skills, and discover the support systems and sense of belonging that can help them thrive in higher education and beyond.
